The NOKO THE KNIGHT® curriculum and training is based on research-based best practices and wholesome values. It has been designed to be inclusive, respectful of diverse communities and to help schools facilitate a safe and positive school culture and climate. Our PD training fosters pro-social youth development and encourageous a strong sense of connectedness amongst students.

Social-emotional literacy (SEL) equips children with the skills they need to manage their emotions, understand and empathize with others, develop healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions. When it comes to combating bullying, SEL plays a crucial role in several ways:

  1. Empathy Building: SEL teaches children to recognize and understand the feelings of others. By fostering empathy, children are more likely to consider the impact of their actions on their peers, making them less likely to engage in bullying behavior.
  2. Self-Awareness: SEL encourages children to recognize their own emotions and understand the triggers that may lead them to bully others. By promoting self-awareness, children can better regulate their emotions and behaviors, reducing the likelihood of aggressive or hurtful actions towards their peers.
  3. Respect for Differences: SEL emphasizes the value of diversity and respect for others’ differences. By teaching children to appreciate and celebrate diversity, SEL helps create a school environment where bullying based on differences such as race, ethnicity, gender, or disability is less likely to occur.
  4. Conflict Resolution Skills: SEL provides children with effective conflict resolution skills, such as active listening, assertive communication, and problem-solving. These skills enable children to address conflicts peacefully and constructively, reducing the likelihood of conflicts escalating into bullying situations.
  5. Positive Relationships: SEL fosters the development of positive relationships and interpersonal skills. By promoting kindness, cooperation, and mutual respect, SEL helps create a supportive school culture where bullying is less tolerated and where students feel safer and more connected to their staff and peers.

Overall, by addressing the underlying social and emotional factors that contribute to bullying, SEL plays a vital role in preventing bullying and creating a positive school climate where all students can thrive.

The NOKO THE KNIGHT® children’s series is set in the heart of the South African bushveld (grassland) and incorporates wholesome, relatable themes. The related social & emotional literacy educational materials and activities are rooted in positive psychology, are culturally rich and include life skills, literacy, geography, science, environmental studies and the arts. Individual tasks, group projects as well as family activities (family engagement) are also part of our process.

The changes within the learning landscape inspired us to translate various in-person presentations to live, virtual sessions as well, which we deliver with great success. This helps to further streamline the presentation process for school administrators, coordinators and attendees.
